Golf Swing Tips to Help You Become a Better Golfer

Golf can be challenging for a lot of people as it’s a sport that requires precision and technique. However, when you’re armed with the right techniques and many hours of practice at Aronimink Golf Club, you can improve your golf swing and your overall game.

In this article, we reveal a handful of golf swing tips so you can be better at this sport.

Tip 1: Improve your grip.

Your grip is the connection between your golf club and your swing, which means it has the biggest influence on how straight your shots fly. Use a simple step-by-step guide to check and improve your golf grip.

Tip 2: Refine your stance.

A great golf stance places your body in a balanced athletic position, which enables you to consistently strike the middle of your golf club. You should aim for a balanced, athletic posture until you swing, so you’re likely to hi middle of the club’s face.

Tip 3: Use your left hand for the direction of your shot.

Use the back of your left hand to control the face of the club and the direction of your shot.  Point it (the black of your left hand) to the left side of your target or to the right to open your club face and fade the ball.

Tip 4: Strike down on the ball with your irons.

Doing this lets the loft of the golf club do the work so your ball goes up in the air. You can try to pick the ball off the turf but this requires some skill and precision. Even Tiger drives down into his iron shots.

Tip 5: Master your golf swing.

You need to have a repeatable swing that lets you hit the ball exactly where you want. Work on this and once you have mastered it you can then focus on the rest of your game.

Tip 6: Improve your tempo by counting.

Counting helps you maintain a consistent tempo. For example, count 1 to start your swing, 2 when you’ve reached the top of your backswing, 3 when the ball is hit, and 4 when you finish.

Tip 7: Take an extra club.

If you’re unsure about the distance you need to hit, take an extra club and aim for a smooth swing. This way you are more likely to increase the percentage of greens you hit by as much as 10%.

Tip 8: Bad shots happen.

Even the best golfers have bad shots, so plan for your miss. Know where you want to miss and where you don’t want to miss to minimize the damage when you hit a bad shot.

Tip 9: Pick a precise target

Focus on a target so you can visualize your shot. For example, when you are hitting off the tee you can aim for a tree or any object in the distance.  When hitting into the green focus on an object near the center.

We hope these golf swing tips can help you become a better player. Keep in mind that practice is essential to improve your golf swing; the more you practice, the better you will get. Happy golfing!
