The Sherwood Country Club is fairly new, as it was only founded recently in 1989. But it does boast of a championship 18-hole Jack Nicklaus signature golf course, which is widely considered among the best in the area. It is located in the gated community of Lake Sherwood, California, at the base of the Santa Monica Mountains. You can find it just south of Thousand Oaks city.
The Sherwood Country Club hosted the World Challenge from 2000 to 2013. This was a PGA Tour-recognized golf tournament hosted by Tiger Woods. The first ever prime-time live golf match was also held at Sherwood, and this duel between Tiger Woods and David Duval was called the Showdown at Sherwood. Tiger Woods won it.
The par-72 course features Bentgrass fairways and Ryegrass roughs, while you have Bentgrass and Poa annua for the greens.

Membership
This has only 375 members, along with 175 tennis members. Membership is by invitation only, and a member has to sponsor the applicant. Members do have the privilege of inviting non-members to play in the golf course, though the members have to accompany their guests.
If you own property within the community, then the initiation fee is $200,000 (reportedly). It is possible to become a member without owning property in the area, but the initiation fee goes up to $300,000.
There are conflicting reports regarding the annual dues, however. Forbes.com reports that the annual dues are $7,300. VCStar.com, however, sets the annual dues at $10,000 although it is possible that this higher fee is for non-property owners.

Golf members and their guests may enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner in the Golfer’s Grille Room, the Vista Grille, the Green Room and the Terrace overlooking the golf course.
Lunch and dinner are available in the Dining Room, Social Lounge and Terrace of the Tennis Clubhouse overlooking the courts and the waterfall.
The Sherwood Spa offers body scrubs, peels, massages, hair removals, microdermabrasion, manicures, and pedicures.
