The Woodfield Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida, is one of the best private country clubs in the country. It’s been listed as one of the 150 Platinum Clubs of America. It’s also been designated as a “Distinguished Club” by Boardroom magazine in partnership with Forbes Travel Guide. Obtaining membership in the Woodfield is a rather iffy proposition. It’s by invitation only, and that invitation is only extended to the property owners of the Woodfield communities. You’ll have a problem if you buy a home there and the owner doesn’t have a membership.
The Full Equity (golf) membership is currently sold out, and there’s a long waitlist. The Full Equity membership a $45,000 contribution with a $50,000 non-refundable initiation fee. That’s a total $95 to start with, and that’s not counting the annual membership dues of $23,000.
One way to bypass the waitlist is to purchase a home in the area, with the owner offering a transfer of their membership. Of course, that will be subjected to market pricing (the law of supply and demand), so you’ll have to negotiate how much that membership will add to the total closing cost of the property.
But you may try for a Standard Equity membership, if that is available. While that will limit the number of times you can use the golf facilities throughout the year, you will still have full access to the tennis facilities and other amenities and social privileges.
For the Standard Equity membership, you’ll need to pay in the buy-in of $38,000 along with the non-refundable initiation fee of $45,000. That’s a total of $83,000 up front, with $16,830 in annual dues.
Once you get your membership, you and your family will be in for a wonderful experience every time you visit. The 18-hole golf course is brand-new, and there’s a solid golf tournament schedule for various skill levels.
The tennis facility is top of the line, and it’s the reason for its designation by the Tennis Industry as the Private Club of the Year. The USTA ha also called Woodfield the Private Facility of the year.
