It can be a bit confusing doing research on the Preserve Golf Club, since so many golf clubs bear this name (or some variation thereof). But let’s be specific: we’re talking about the Preserve Golf Club at the Santa Lucia Reserve, just minutes from Carmel, California.
It’s true that this golf course may not rank as high in regard as its more famous neighbors. After all, it sits beside the Monterey Peninsula CC and its 2 championship courses, along with Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill, and Cypress Point. All 5 courses are part of the Golf Digest 100 Greatest Courses in America.
But the Tom Fazio-designed Preserve Golf Club Course isn’t lagging all that far behind. It currently ranks as 103rd on the list. It’s also well-known for its complete serenity, being the only golf course around within its 20,000 acres.
Below is the latest The Preserve Golf Club prices.
Membership Costs
Like many exclusive golf clubs, The Preserve doesn’t really publicize the costs of membership. According to the Robb Report, to be a member you need to pay the initiation fee of $150,000 with annual dues of $11,200.
It’ll help if you buy one of the 300 homesites available. These range in size from 8 to 60 acres, and the prices start at $1.5 million.
It’s still possible to get a membership here even if you don’t own any properties in the surrounding counties (Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Benito and Santa Clara). But only 40 memberships are available for this Preserve National Membership.
Golf Course Honors
Aside from its 103rd national ranking among US golf courses, the Preserve Golf Club course has also been included among the following prestigious lists:
- Golf Digest. Best in State (part of the list for 13 years running)
- Golfweek. Top 100 Residential Courses in the US (12 years running)
- Golf Magazine. The 25 Best Golf Communities in North America
- Travel and Leisure. America’s Top 25 Golf Communities
- Links Magazine. Top 10 California Golf Courses
Other Membership Alternative
The other alternative is the Ranch Club Membership, which is great if you’re not all that interested in golf anyway. This membership basically offers everything else:
- advanced equestrian center
- sport center
- a hundred miles of trails for hiking and biking
- a lake for fishing and kayaking
- swimming pool, hot tub, and water slide
- 4 tennis courts
- Bocce and croquet courts
- Bikes
- Horseshoe pit
- Batting cage
- 3 dining venues
The initiation fee for the Ranch membership is $35,000 with annual dues of $4,750.
