Check through Google, and you’ll find plenty of country clubs and resorts that bear the name “Hideaway”. But the Hideaway Country Club that we’re focusing on is the one in La Quinta. It’s the country club that’s ranked 109th among the Platinum Clubs of America.
Unlike many of the other premier country clubs in the country, Hideaway Country Club is actually fairly new. It was built in 2003 to serve as the social hub of The Hideaway residential community in the Southern California desert. This community has just 434 homes spread across 600 acres, with the most affordable houses coming in with a price tag of $1.5 million. At the other end, you also have homes that cost $8.5 million. This is not a neighborhood for blue-collar folks.
The small number of homes here also explain the membership cap, with the equity golf membership limited to just 450 members. If you’re able to get the invite for this membership, you should be ready to pay the initiation fee of $150,000. The dues amount to $2,683 per month (that’s more than $32,000 per year).
Why so expensive? Well, it’s not really expensive for the homeowners of the community, with all those pricey homes. Also, the family membership includes the spouse along with any unmarried children under the age of 31.
There’s also an “extended family” membership that offer privileges for immediate family members, married children and their families, and all unmarried children 31 years and older.
Besides, the golf facilities here are just outstanding. One 18-hole golf course was designed by Clive Clark, and the other by Peter Dye. Both are championship golf courses, and they’re backed up by the fantastic full-service golf practice facilities. You also have the 4 signature complimentary comfort stations, which includes Hideaway’s Snicky Snack that serves a daily-changing menu of gourmet treats.
Then there’s the Spanish Colonial clubhouse with 51,000 square feet of awesome amenities. These include the tennis and pickleball courts, a world-class fitness center with a lap pool, state-of-the-art spa facilities, and even a shopping boutique for members. Add the various dining options and a great social calendar of events, and you really get your money’s worth.
