The Country Club of York is an old club, as it was established in 1899. It’s located in York, Pennsylvania, right in the heart of the state. It’s one of the best country clubs in the whole country, and it’s listed as a Platinum Club of America.

The club is on 241 acres of land, with an elevation of 646 feet. That gives you fantastic views of the York County countryside, while you relax in the gorgeous Clubhouse with 46,000 square feet of space. This particular building was built from the local stone mined from the local quarries back in the 1920s.

The Clubhouse was originally built with 250 members and their families in mind. But the membership gradually grew over the years, and by 2012 the membership had expanded to more than 700 families. That was when the local Club leadership decided on a major makeover for the place. The main dining areas, the Club décor, and the mechanical systems were all upgraded, while they also added a Platform Viewing Hut and Pool Pavilion.

Golf is a main attraction here, and the course was designed by famed architect Donald Ross back in 1928. It has hosted numerous competitions, most recently the 2011 Pennsylvania State Women’s Golf Association Amateur, the 2012 Women’s Eastern Amateur, the 2014 Pennsylvania Golf Association Open Championship, and the 2021 Philadelphia Open.

Tennis buffs will like it here, with 3 Har-Tru courts and 3 Platform courts, all with lights for evening play. There are even 2 all-weather courts as well. There’s a tennis pro shop, along with an actual tennis pro to provide lessons. The summer Junior Tennis Camps here are very popular.

There’s also a pool complex, complete with a diving board, lap lanes, and a kiddie pool for toddlers. The cabana comes with food and beverage service, while the new covered pool pavilion is a favored spot for many types of celebrations and special events.

The initiation fee for a Resident (Full) member is at a reasonable $17,000 with annual dues of just $5,580. There is no monthly minimum charge, but there is a service charge as well.
