The CCV is located at the western city limit at Richmond, Virginia’s West, right off Three Chopt Road at 6031 St. Andrews Lane. It’s been around since 1908, and it’s regarded as a Platinum Club of America.
It’s quite a traditional place, with amenities mostly geared towards families. Though members can of course enjoy golf and tennis matches here, the CCV also regularly hosts business meetings and various social gatherings (especially weddings).
The initiation fee is $75,000, though that can change at any time. The monthly dues are actually modest at just $500 a month.
With your membership, you’re able to enjoy the various amenities and features. These include the three 180hole golf courses, starting with the original Westhampton course that was renovated in 1931. A renovation in 2005 brought dramatic changes, but it actually brought back many of the features that Donald Ross put in back in 1920. Every fall, this is where they play the Senior Open of Virginia.
Then there’s the James River course, which hosted the US Amateur Championship in 1955 and 1975. It was last restored in 2004. In 2005, Golf Digest listed it as one of the best newly remodeled golf courses.
The last and most recent course is the Tuckahoe Creek Course, which opened in 1988. The area covers more than 240 acres, and the land is actually part of Thomas Jefferson’s home. It’s a picturesque place, with 7 lakes and a creek to go with the 76 bunkers. With the large but undulating greens, you’ll need some skill with the irons, and you better know how to putt properly.
There are 8 available reception rooms for parties, starting with a business conference room with a projector. The smaller reception rooms can seat perhaps 50 to 70 guests, while the larger ballrooms can host 120 people or even more (especially with the porch).
Then there’s also the poolside area, known as the Aquatics Complex. It’s open for poolside parties after 8:30PM. This also features the Lower Terrace, where you can hold your party near the pool but without any swimming activities involved.
