2024. Prices and selections may vary and are updated frequently.
Membership in the Skokie Country Club involves an initiation fee of $85,000 with monthly dues of at least $545, but this information may not be current. That’s especially true post-Covid.
These prices may be a bit extreme for some, but then again, we’re talking about a country club that’s listed as 95th among the Top 150 Platinum Clubs of America. When you consider that there are more than 4,000 country clubs in the country, that’s a truly high ranking.
The expenses are worth it for the golf fans, since the country club boasts of a Donald Ross course. The course has evolved over the years with several different layouts, but Donald Ross made his changes to the course way back in 1914. This was the course that hosted the 1922 US Open, which charged an admission fee for the first time.
The other golf events hosted here include the 1998 US Senior Amateur and the Western Amateur in 2010 and 2017. The course will again host the Western Amateur in 2025.
In 1999, the club membership voted for an update for the golf course, and this update brought back the original Donald Ross specs. It now remains a classic Ross golf course that’s truly a pleasure to play.
But it’s not about just golf, since tennis is also a big deal here. It has plenty of tennis courts, and paddle tennis courts as well.
The pool area is fantastic too, with 2 swimming pools adjacent to one another. One is a lap pool for swimming races and exercise, while the other is a resort-style pool complete with water streams.
The place also offers plenty of dining venues, private party room options, and banquet rooms. You can go with an intimate romantic dinner, a quiet business meal for a dozen, or a festive wedding celebration for 300 guests.
The rules are more relaxed here, as members and guests can use mobile devices (but only on silent mode). You can only use these devices with sound if you’re in the parking lot. Jeans and collarless shirts around allowed, but basic golf attire is permitted throughout the Clubhouse.
