Membership to the Pinehurst Country Club is only by invitation. The most likely scenario is if you buy a property within a 60-mile radius of the country club, and then you’re able to obtain a transferable membership along with the property. But you’re also able to get a non-transferable membership as well.
The initiation fees will depend on what type of membership you go for. In general, the membership types most define what kind of golf access you get.
The Signature Golf membership reportedly requires a $45,000 initiation fee, with monthly dues of $620. With the Premier Golf membership, you need to pay the $25,000 initiation fee with monthly dues of $620 as well. This limits the number of golf holes you can freely access, however.
The Full Golf membership also requires a $25,000 initiation fee, but with monthly dues of only $520. Again, you have more limitations regarding the golf privileges, plus you’re only able to access the Carolina Hotel pool 5 days a week (instead of everyday).
The Sports membership has even more golf limitations, and with fees for playing golf as well. You’ll also need to pay an annual fee for golf bag storage. Tennis court reservation is 5 days in advance instead of 7. For this membership, you pay $16,000 as initiation fee with $222 in monthly dues.
The Social membership comes with a $10,000 initiation fee and $161 in monthly dues. You’re only allowed 10 rounds of golf per year, and these will come with fees. The same goes for the use of the tennis complex with just two times a month, with fees to be paid as well.
The golf facilities are probably the main draw here, since you have 9 golf courses available—seriously. These courses have that Donald Ross feel, especially the No. 2 course. It has hosted more single golf championships than any other course in America, and in 2014 it even hosted back-to-back US Open and US Women’s Open championships for the first time ever.
It’s also slated to host championships in 2024, 2029, 2035, 2041, and 2047. Clearly, Pinehurst is determined to maintain the high quality of this course for the foreseeable future.
Add the tennis, swimming, and other fitness and sports activities, plus the dining options, and this is one heck of a country club.
