Membership into the Olympia Fields Country Club is in the Olympia Fields village in Illinois, just south of Chicago. It’s famous for being one of the best educated and wealthiest communities in the US where the majority of the residents are African-American.
The village, and the country club, is in stark contrast with many other private golfing communities where the residents and country club members are predominantly white.
Its main attraction is the 2 top-ranked golf courses, with the South Course ranked 146th in the US in the 2016 Golfweek list of the Best Classic Courses in the US. The North Course has been ranked by Golf Digest as 75th among all the golf courses (both classic and modern) in the US in 2020.
The regular golfing membership offers full access and voting rights. It requires a $20,000 non-refundable initiation fee. You can pay in 2 installments, but that increases the fee to $25,000.
Other fees include monthly dues of $815 ($9780 per year), a minimum house contribution of $1,500 per year, and capital dues of $100 a month ($1,200 per year).
If you’re at least 63 years old, you can go with the senior associate membership, with full access but no voting rights. The initiation fee is only $13,000 though all the other dues and fees are the same as with the regular golfing membership.
Then there’s the associate membership, with several tiers defined by how old you are. This type of membership is for those between the ages of 23 and 40, and you pay more if you’re older.
The initiation fee is $10,000 paid by the time you’re 40 years old, but you get credit for all dues you’ve paid before you reach this age.
For those who are 23 years old, the monthly dues are $306, there’s no minimum house charge, and monthly capital dues are $37.50 per month. These fees incrementally increase by age, until you reach 40 years old and you pay the same regular golf membership dues and fees.
Other memberships include social, regional, national, and international, with reduced fees. But the corporate membership requires a $40,000 initiation fee for the primary designee, with $20,000 for each additional designee.
