You can find the Jupiter Island Club in Hobe Sound, Florida, on a barrier island in the southernmost part of Martin County. It’s a private community with elegant estates, through which the terrific 18-hole golf course plays. Among those who have owned estates in the area include legends such as Greg Norman, Nick Price, and Tiger Woods.
There is very little information regarding the membership costs, which isn’t surprising given the exclusivity of the club. It’s known to reject the applications of some very famous celebrities, so don’t be surprised if you find it challenging to become a member.
Reports have it that the membership initiation cost is at least $200,000 with annual dues of at least $21,900.
Even descriptions of the amenities aren’t easily found, although many visitors to the club have described the place as a tropical paradise. The club has the only golf course in the whole island. It also features 14 tennis courts with a Tennis Shop, croquet courts, a 200-seat theater, and a small marina. It features 2 pools, various dining options, and even 9 cottages.
Here you’ll find charming wood-paneled buildings with a row of somewhat traditional shops that remind you of the days gone by. There are shops for flowers, wine, beauty products, beach apparel. It’s a relaxing retreat that feels like another country, away from the urban sprawl.
Of course, it’s the golf course that draws the most guests. It all started with 9 holes back in 1916, and of course, more holes were added over the years. A major renovation occurred in 2012, resulting in a lush environment bursting that’s a haven for wildlife and flora. The natural surroundings will tempt you to literally stop from hole to hole, to savor the flowers and the gorgeous environment.
The golf course itself is quite challenging to play, although it feels very friendly. That’s part of its charm, and you get the fantastic views along the way. The greens are somewhat quirky as well, but that’s okay.
All in all, The Jupiter Island Club is one of the best clubs in the country. Its members have included some of the most famous industrialists and philanthropists in US history.
But the feel and style are decidedly low-key and unpretentious. It offers privacy with casual elegance, along with friendly and yet professional service.
