John’s Island is an exclusive community in Vero Beach, Florida. Its club is one of the most highly-regarded country clubs and golf communities. In fact, Travel & Leisure Golf has also ranked the John’s Island Club as one of “America’s Top 25 Golf Communities”.
The private club is owned by the approximately 1,400 members who live in the community. You do have to own property here to become a member. But you also have to be invited first to become a member, and then your membership has to be approved by the 15-member Board of Directors. Then there’s the entrance fee for full membership, which will cost you $125,000.
The good news is that as a member, your immediate family (your parents, children, and grandchildren), can also enjoy all the amenities and social benefits without having to pay additional fees. They don’t even have to own property in John’s Island, or live nearby.
And with the club set between the 3 miles of sandy beaches along the Indian River Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean, every visit to the club feels like going on an exotic tropical vacation.
Here, you and your family can enjoy 3 championship golf courses, 17 Har-Tru clay tennis courts, pickleball courts, singles and doubles squash courts, and 2 croquet lawns. There’s also a premium fitness center for strength training and cardio.
It’s not all about the games and sports, either, although the other features are fun as well. Members will enjoy a terrific calendar of various social and recreational events. And you can always visit the various dining facilities, whether for fine dining or casual fare.
Two courses (North and South courses), are on John’s Island itself, and they were designed by Jack Nicklaus and Peter Dye. The par-71 North Course is a lengthy test of your golf skills, but you’ll surely enjoy the spectacular views of John’s Island Sound.
The South Course is regarded as a shotmaker’s course, and its more traditional design will remind you of the golf courses found in England and Scotland.
There’s also the West Course, though this time it’s set on undeveloped land 6 miles from John’s Island. It’s built on a natural sand ridge, and you’ll encounter various types of wildlife in their natural habitat.
