This is another old member-owned country club, located in the northern suburbs of Philadelphia. It was founded way back in 1897, and it continues to offer terrific services for its members. It’s been designated as a Platinum Club of America, and it’s extremely family-oriented.

Membership at Huntingdon Valley Country Club starts with a current club member who’s willing to sponsor your application. Then this sponsor has to find 2 other current members who are willing to write a letter for the Admissions Committee, and these letters will second the nomination.

The Admissions Committee will then review your nomination. If they find nothing wrong with you, then they might extend an invitation to join. The membership standards here aren’t all that super-strict. In fact, the HVCC membership is perhaps the most diverse among all the country clubs in the area. White, black, Asian, Hispanic, Jewish, Muslim, or whatever—you’re welcome to join.

If you do accept the invitation, then you normally will pay an initiation fee of $20,000. Sometimes, the club may also go through a membership drive initiative, during which the initiation fee might even drop to as low as $7,500. The annual dues amount to $7,900.

There are actually 2 kinds of memberships available. There’s the full golf membership, and then there’s the club membership with a very limited golf experience.

Currently, however, the Huntingdon Valley Country Club is already serving 675 members and their families. The members sure love the three 9-hole golf courses here, as about 26,000 rounds of golf are played here each year.

But then again, Golfweek ranks the golf course here as 133rd among the top classic courses in the country built before 1960. The course also ranks 15th among the current golf courses in the state.

The racquetball program here in HVCC is superb, with facilities including 6 clay courts and 2 hard tennis courts, 2 squash courts, and 4 heated and lighted paddle tennis courts.

There are also facilities for platform tennis, pickleball, and even table tennis. There’s a lap pool, along with a fitness center. Add the formal Toomey Dining Room and the more casual Huntingdon Pub, Pool Pavilion, and the Flynn Lounge, and it’s a great place for families.
