The Denver Country Club was founded way back in 1887, making it one of the oldest country clubs in the whole US. It was originally established with a focus on horse racing, but it eventually featured standbys such as golf and tennis.
It actually had a golf course since 1893, and it was the first country club west of the Mississippi to be admitted to the USGA in 1896. Its golf course today still retains the charm of its classic architecture, while it also incorporates the latest in golf course technology.
Tennis is another hallowed sport here, since The Denver Country Club has hosted tournaments as early as the 1880s. Today, the club offers members 12 tennis courts. These include 2 grass courts, 2 clay courts, and 6 All-Weather composition courts. The indoor facility houses the last 4 tennis courts. Recently, the club also added 2 new platform tennis courts. Their junior tennis program is for both boys and girls, and there are adult leagues as well.
Swimming is also another feature here, and in fact the first pool was opened here in 1934. The pool features racing lanes to meet Junior Olympic specifications, and it also has a 12-feet-deep diving area. The pool can be divided into separate areas, so adults can do laps while others can enjoy more leisurely water activities.
If these activities aren’t enough, there are more. Croquet and lawn bowling are popular pastimes during the summer, and members play them on the grass pitch. Outdoor skating is also popular here at the club’s rink. Add the various dining options here at the Denver Country Club, and it’s not surprising that it’s so exclusive. This is one club that members will certainly appreciate.
