The Country Club of Rochester was founded back in 1895, and you can find its championship golf course in the towns of Pittsford and Brighton in suburban Rochester, New York.
Membership in this country club requires an initiation fee and annual dues, but recent information regarding those fees is quite scant. It’s been reported that the golf membership requires an initiation fee of $45,000 with annual dues of around $7,100, but those figures were for 2018. It’s very likely that the fees have increased since then.
The original golf course was only for 9 holes, but then Donald Ross redesigned the course in 1912 with 18 holes. Upgrades followed from Robert Trent Jones and Arthur Hills over the years, and the most recent 2004 renovation was done by Gil Hanse.
Still, this is the golf course that hosted the 1953 U.S. Women’s Open, which was the first women’s open sanctioned by the USGA. It also played host for the 1962 US Women’s Amateur and the 1973 US Women’s Open.
Golf lessons are available throughout the year, while you can also use the Golf Simulator and the 3 practice holes, the driving range, and practice areas for putting and chipping.
Those looking for a good workout will marvel at the state-of-the-art fitness center, with lots of premium equipment for cardio and strength training. It’s right by the Olympic-sized pool in the club, while you also enjoy a view of the 18th hole as you take fitness classes for Pilates, tai chi, barre, cycling, yoga, and many other types of workouts.
During the summer, that pool really gets popular. It offers a zero-depth entry area and a splash pad area, along with 4 lap lanes and a 12-foot-deep diving well. Competitive tennis and pickleball can be enjoyed on the 4 tennis courts, and there are spaces for sports such as soccer, lacrosse, and various lawn sports.
During the winter, there’s competitive Paddle Tennis and Cross-Country Skiing, along with a skating rink where you can play hockey.
Spacious dining rooms are also available for various events, and these are great for receptions and weddings.
