There are actually several country clubs in the country that bear the name Capital City Club. But this is about the Capital City Club in Atlanta, Georgia. It’s one of the oldest country clubs in the US, as it was established in 1883. It has a long history, with its memberships over the years filled with the elites of Georgia. Guests to the Capital City Country Club have included several US presidents and even members of the royalty from other nations. Even Bobby Jones, Jr. was a member here.
The clubhouse moved around a but during its early years. Today, Capital City Club now operates 3 facilities. The oldest among them started out in 1911, and it’s located in downtown Atlanta. The golf course there was designed by Herbert Baker, and the course opened around the same time that the clubhouse building became part of the country club.
Then there’s the Capital City Club surrounded by the elegant homes in Brookhaven, and it sure offers terrific function rooms along with the golf course. There’s the grand ballroom that can accommodate up to 150 seated guests. Add the adjacent Tented Terrace, and you have enough space for up to 350 guests.
The Overlook here is another terrific option for private parties during the weekend. It can accommodate up to 100 seated guests. There are also various business rooms for smaller events, and the Seasons Lounge can handle up to 50 guests.
Capital City Club also built its Crabapple Golf Club in Milton, Georgia in 2002. It’s a great venue for charity or corporate golf tournaments, along with groomsmen golf outings. It features the Mixed Grille for up to 120 guests. Or you can have an outdoor wedding on the 16th and 17th fairway expanse. Who says the views are just for the golfers?
Membership information isn’t readily available at all, although you can send an inquiry through the website. It’s unlikely that you’ll get any info unless you’re actually a viable potential member. Given the elite membership and prestigious history of the club, don’t be surprised by an exorbitant initiation fee in the 6 figures, along with high annual dues.
