The Platinum Clubs of America lists the top 150 best country clubs in the whole country. Butterfield Country Club is included in that list with a ranking of 133rd, from the more than 4,000 clubs in the whole US. That says a lot about Butterfield, especially as it’s been around since 1920.
Membership information isn’t easy to come by, but the latest reports put the initiation fee at a minimum of $100,000. You pay about $750 for the monthly dues, along with the food and beverage minimum. You may still pay extra for the green fees, cart rentals, and club storage services, and you may also have to pay more to join tournaments and golf clinics.
Still, you have three 9-hole golf courses here, and they’re designed by William Langford. It’s one of the most challenging golf courses in the whole Midwest, so it’s a good thing that there’s a driving range, 2 chipping greens, and 2 putting greens. To really help you improve your game, there’s also an indoor golf practice facility that features 2 high-tech golf simulators that let you play virtually on 25 championship golf courses.
The golf pros here offer lessons for groups and individuals, while the junior golf program encourages kids to love and play golf. The golf shop is fully-equipped, while the Caddy Program is one of the finest in the whole country. Lots of members’ tournaments are played here, and interclub events with other clubs are also common. If you’re a golfer, you just won’t get bored.
Not that tennis fans will get bored, either, since there are 4 outdoor courts, a tennis shop, and professional teachers certified by the USPTA. The junior tennis program helps younger players along, from beginners to those with national rankings. There are facilities for paddle tennis as well.
The fitness center is fantastic, filled up with advanced equipment and weights. There’s a lap pool, a heated pool, and even a baby pool area, along with lots of shade and poolside dining. Various dining options are also available, with each dining room providing a distinct ambience. The food is superb, along with the wines, cocktails, and craft beers. You can go with the formal Butterfield Room, the casual Grill Room, or the relaxed Pub and Patio.
