The Platinum Clubs of America lists the best 150 country clubs from all over the US, and the Brook Hollow Golf Club in Dallas, Texas is part of that list. It’s a very traditional club, ever since it was established in 1922. That means they value their privacy, and the membership doesn’t really want to brag about the amenities of the club.
This is why their website doesn’t offer any sort of information, except a list of employment listings plus directions on how to get there for guests. Any other information will require a member password to log in.
In any case, this is one of the most prestigious country clubs around in the whole Dallas area, and it’s one sort of club that the Ewing family, (and JR in particular), will probably enjoy. After all, the membership list includes George W. Bush, Ross Perot Sr. and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.
Membership here is by invitation only, and that means you need to be the sort of person that these members will be comfortable hanging out with. The initiation fee here is estimated to be about $125,000 and that’s only if the members really know you well. Rumor has it that if you’re not a Dallas old-timer (that is, you’ve only lived here for less than a decade), then the initiation fee will triple. That is, if you’re at least well-connected enough to get that membership invitation.
Still, this is a full equity club that offers terrific amenities that really oozes elegance and style. As you might well imagine with the type of members here, only the very best will do when it comes to all the amenities and facilities.
That’s epitomized by the golf course, which was designed in 1919 by the great A. W. Tillinghast. It’s one of the very few Tillinghast courses in Texas, and it was the first course in the US that had a built-in irrigation system to maintain greens playability. For 1919, that’s serious golf technology.
While the course has been upgraded through the years, it still has its original charm. It’s not easy to play, but that’s part of the fun.
