Bloomfield Hills Country Club in Michigan is listed as a Platinum Club of America, and that means it’s one of the Top 150 country clubs in the whole country. It’s quite an old club, with a history that dates back to its establishment in 1909. It was founded by a group of the leading Detroit businessmen of the time. These included a former mayor of Detroit, the founder of The Detroit News, and of course, Henry Ford himself.
Membership here can be rather difficult to attain, as the club membership is very small at around 240 members. They’re not even really invested into luring in new members to the club, and the current members rather prefer the intimacy of the club. They’re all friends here. There’s a cap on the membership, and they’re close to meeting that cap which will result in a waitlist.
This is why even their website doesn’t have any sort of information regarding the facilities and amenities. It only contains a short history, rules for guests, and employment openings. Any more information will require a member login.
The course here is famous, however, since it was designed by Harry Colt and it’s actually the only course in the US that’s designed solely by that famous architect. It has then been upgraded over the years by Donald Ross and Robert Trent Jones.
The fact that this is a Platinum Club of America for 2021 does say a lot about the country club. Its prestige and fame are unmistakable, and it has a rich tradition and history. Its facilities and amenities are topnotch, and that’s not limited to just golf.
The caliber of the staff and professional service providers is also world-class, members and guests are also required to treat them with courtesy. That’s generally the case, since the quality of the membership is, as already noted, rather high in its standards. The club offers proper governance, while it also adapts nicely to changing times. All in all, the only way to become a member here is to befriend a few of the members. These friends may then sponsor your application, and they’ll tell you what you need to know.
