The Quail Hollow Club is one of the most exclusive country clubs in North Carolina, with a reported membership of only around 300 members or so. Your application has to be sponsored by a current member, and you have to be ready for the $100,000 initiation fee. The monthly dues are supposed to be around $800 per month, but it may be higher.
But for the members, the fees are worth paying. This is mainly due to the excellent golf course here. It is the main attraction for Quail Hollow, although the country club does offer other amenities. But it is really about golf for the most part, instead of offering lots of different activities and amenities for the entire family.
It’s actually a relatively new country club, as it was established on in 1960. Don’t confuse the club with the Quail Hollow Country Club, as that’s a different club (and it’s in Ohio). The Quail Hollow Club is a lot more prestigious, although the vibe here isn’t pretentious at all. It’s basically a small club where all the members seem to know each other well.
And they also know that they’re all mad about golf. The original architect of the golf course was George Cobb, but legends such as Arnold Palmer and Tom Fazio has made modifications and redesigns on the course over the years. The course has hosted events such as the 2017 PGA Championship, the Wells Fargo Championship since 2003, and the World Seniors Invitational from 1980 to 1989.
Golf was considered a lot more important to the founding members that the golf course was built in 1961, while the actual clubhouse was only finished in 1967. It has also been modified and redesigned since then, and the clubhouse now offers lots of great amenities.
These include the magnificent grand ballroom, with its great oak floor. It also features a card room where members can have some fun with cards while networking, and there’s also a library. The whole place feels elegant, and it even features up to 15 fireplaces spread all over. The main kitchen veers off towards several dining facilities with each having its own look. Other areas include the men’s and women’s locker rooms, and here you can even find a grill with 2 lounge areas.
