Located in one of the wealthiest areas of Charlotte, the Myers Park Country Club is one of the most exclusive and most private country clubs in the area. It was founded way back in 1921, and it’s famous for its terrific golf course, numerous dining and socializing venues, and terrific pool complex. The MPCC is known as the hangout for the top 1% of the Charlotte elite.
But you’d hardly find any official information about it. Its website mainly offers info regarding employment opportunities and rules for guests. They don’t have details regarding the amenities. Still, it’s almost common knowledge that the amenities of the Myers Park Country Club are among the best.
That is why in 2019, reports surfaced that the full membership initiation fee was $80,000 with monthly dues of up to $800 a month. The social membership needed $55,000 as initiation fee with monthly dues of up to $500 a month.
Even more recently, reports have indicated that club has increased the full golf membership fees to $95,000 for the initiation fee and about $1,000 in monthly dues. This is perhaps to offset the $27-million renovation the club started to celebrate their 100th anniversary.
The demand for membership into the MPCC is quite high, since you’re lucky if the entire application process takes only months to complete. According to some reports, there’s actually a 2-year waiting list. And it’s not just the golf.
According to those who have dined there, the food is perhaps the best among all the country clubs in the area. The Myers Park Country Club actually has several dining options within its stately clubhouse. The recent renovations also upgraded the pool complex as well as the fitness facilities.
Many members believe that these fees are worth paying, as the clubhouse seems to focus more on family-oriented amenities. Even the kids will enjoy the place, since the club offers plenty of program for junior golf, tennis, and swimming.
Even the diversity here is quite good, at least in comparison with other country clubs. It’s not just an enclave for old-money WASPS.
