Those unfamiliar with Kiawah Island might think that this is some place around Honolulu, but it’s actually a barrier island on the Atlantic Coast, just 25 miles southwest of Charleston, South Carolina. It offers 5 different neighborhoods, and if you ever buy one of the homes here, you can join the Kiawah Island Club. That’s a privilege, since it regularly ranks among the top clubs and golf resorts in the country.

Membership here can come through 2 different ways. One is if you buy a previously unsold homesite through Kiawah Island Real Estate. The other method is to buy a resale property from a current member of the club, who can then offer the membership as part of the sale.

Just keep in mind that there is a cap on the number of memberships, and it will depend on the club’s capacity to fulfill current membership demands.

According to reports, the full golf membership offers access to everything, including VIP tee times and without paying green fees. For this, you pay an initiation fee of $135,000 although all initiation fees are 80% refundable. You then pay $1,180 in monthly dues.

The sports membership is quite similar, since you can still play golf in all the 5 golf courses. That’s in addition to every other facility. You just don’t get the VIP tee times, and you pay reduced green fees. There’s also the $849 in monthly dues.

With this sports membership, you still get full access to all the sports and fitness areas. These include the tennis courts, the squash courts, and also the basketball courts. And of course, you also enjoy all the social amenities.

Finally, there’s the social membership. This is available with the initiation fee of $50,000. You still get to join in the various events so you can socialize and network with the other members. Feel free to sample the cuisine in the various dining facilities, and share drinks in the bars. And after a hard day at work, you can always relax in one of the spas.

With these memberships, you’re not just the only beneficiary. All your immediate family members get the same benefits!
