The Bellerive Country Club is old, as it was first established in 1897 in north St. Louis. It officially incorporated as the Bellerive Country Club in 1910, and it was named after Louis St. Ange De Bellerive, the last French commander in North America.
The Club moved to a new location in 1955, with the famous golf architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr. picking the location. The course opened in 1960, and it didn’t take long for players to dub it the “Green Monster of Ladue”. It was renovated in 2006 with the makeover led by Rees Jones (the son of Robert Trent Jones).
The golf course is actually regarded as the best in the whole state of Missouri. It has hosted the 1965 US Open, the 2008 BMW Championship, and the 100th USPGA Championship in 2018.
Membership costs aren’t made public, but it’s reported to be set at a minimum of $65,000 for the initiation fee with no equity. However, other reports peg the current initiation fee at about $90,000, with around $1,000 for the monthly dues. That’s not surprising, as the Bellerive Country Club is perhaps one of the top 3 country clubs in the whole state.
You’ll also enjoy the results of the major renovation recently done in 2020. Now you have the best-in-class racquets facility, which features state-of-the-art clay courts and a hard court as well. It also boasts of platform tennis courts, standalone pickleball courts, and a racquets shop. Of course, it also has lots of social patios for social events and networking.
All the dining rooms have been upgraded, along with the private-function areas. There’s now a new fitness facility, which combines the needs of the traditional fitness enthusiast with the needs of athletes for functional fitness for golf and racquetball games. The cardio equipment is state-of-the-art, and mixes in nicely with the classic strength training equipment.
The Halfway House has been greatly improved. There’s also a new standalone restaurant for casual dining, which is a favorite hangout for the golfers, pool users, and family gatherings. Of course, there’s also a pool. Altogether, this is one plave you’d visit regularly if you’re ever accepted as a member.
