Belfair is a gated community in Bluffton, South Carolina, and here the social hub is undoubtedly the country club. About 75% of the country club membership regard Belfair as their primary home, but residency is not an absolute requirement for membership in the club. There’s a limited number of non-property owner memberships.
In theory, you can get obtain the full golf membership here by paying the member initiation fee of $22,500 and then covering the annual dues of $15,892. But the reality is that your best bet to obtain a membership is to buy property in Belfair from an owner who is willing to transfer the membership with the sale of the property. It’s the same thing with the non-property owner membership, as you’ll have to buy it from the owner of the holder of the membership.
How much that membership will add to the total cost of the property, or how much the NPW membership will cost you, will depend on your negotiation with the current owner of the membership.
But there’s a reason why the vast majority of the residences here want that membership. One of the main reasons is the golf. Make that two reasons, since there are 2 golf courses here. There’s the East Course, ranked 31st in South Carolina in 2022 by Golf Digest. Then there’s the West Course designed by Tom Fazio, and it’s ranked 24th in the state. They’re both 18-hole golf courses as well.
Other golf features include the Golf Learning Center, which is ranked among the Top 50 practice ranges in the entire country. It offers help in improving specific facets of your game, and plenty of space for practice.
The Sports & Lifestyles Campus is great, with 6,500 square feet of space for cardio and strength training. It offers sports therapy and personal training as well. The Aquatics section includes an indoor pool pavilion, an outdoor pool, and a splash area.
For racquet sports, you have 6 Har-Tru courts along with grass courts as well, while lessons are available. It also has 2 pickleball courts. Dining options include the 1811 Grille with a casual pub vibe, The Bistro for indoor and outdoor casual dining, and Veranda Dining with fireplaces. You also have The Oaks, which is the main banquet area and The Magnolia private dining room with a fireplace.
