The Army Navy Country Club in Virginia, supposedly, is all about promoting a sense of unity among both military and civilian folks, who are all interested in promoting national defense.
However, the initiation fees for membership here are somewhat confusing. Former commissioned officers are required to pay an initiation fee of $38,850. Meanwhile, non-commissioned officers and enlisted personnel will have to fork out an initiation fee of $77,700. Do the math, and that means the noncoms and enlisted types need to pay double the fee of what the officers pay.
The club does offer several types of memberships. The full membership offers complete access to everything that the club has to offer. You can play golf on the nice golf course, and then play tennis on one of the courts available here. The club also offers practice facilities and pro shops for both golf and tennis.
Since military types are all about getting fit, it’s not surprising that there’s a no-nonsense fitness center here. There’s also a swimming pool, to the appreciation of the squids and for swimming fans. The dining facilities are also terrific, and that’s great for the families of these warriors.
The resident membership is for those who live near the clubhouse. The areas include D.C.; the Virginia counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, Loudoun, or Fauquier, or the City of Alexandria; and Maryland counties of Montgomery or Prince Georges. Residents who are younger than 35 years old enjoy discounted dues.
Absent members, on the other hand, are those who live beyond these residential limits. With this membership, you can only use the golf, tennis, aquatics, and fitness center 15 days a year. But you can at any time take golf and tennis lessons, and buy from the pro shops. Also, you can enjoy the dining facilities any time you want.
Other types of memberships include a trial membership for new members. This can offer you full privileges for a limited time, so you can know for yourself if the Army Navy Country Club is right for you and your family. With the Social Membership, you get everything except golf or tennis.
